Skin type: Sensitive, combination, acne-prone, dehydrated.
Benton has a new addition to the classic 🐌🐝 family, and this time it's an innovative eco-friendly product to soothe tired eyes! As an insomniac with worsening dark circles, this is definitely right up my alley. Let's see how this new launch measures up, shall we?
The Benton Snail Bee Ultimate Hydrogel Eye Patches is packaged in a dark brown tub with luxe gold details with a matching outer box. But here's the kicker: to my inner clean-freak's delight, it also comes with an inner lid, mini spatula and originally, a protective peel-off seal to minimise any possible contamination issues. Definitely can't fault the thoughtful packaging at all.
As a company promoting clean, green beauty, I love how these patches rightfully contain only healthy ingredients and omit harmful ingredients such as PEGs, silicon, etc. It's also fragrance-free, as most Benton products I've tried are, and my sensitive nose is eternally grateful. But here's the most interesting part: because these thin, smooth hydrogel patches are derived from components of seaweed, they are completely water-soluble! Yup, just mix it with 3~50ml of water, and ta-da! You now have a pretty, subtly sparkling body mist at no extra cost!
Results-wise, I actually didn't expect that much; purely because this is my first time trying out hydrogel eye patches. But, I'm actually pleasantly surprised. Whenever I remember to take the tub out of its permanent place in my fridge (I love 'em cold!), these patches always provide an instant soothing and cooling sensation on my skin, effectively depuffing and brightening the undereye area with moisture. So it's definitely great to use pre-makeup to prevent those pesky concealer creases!
However, as they are soaked with essence, these elastic patches do have the tendency to slip and slide - not so much on dry surfaces, but if your skin is plumped with moisture (eg. toner, serum, etc), they will cause some trouble. So, a personal tip (also helps to prevent any possibility of TEWL on non-patched skin), use them under a sheet mask! or in conjunction with a wash-off mask.
Overall, this is a great 2-in-1 option for those curious and in the market for hydrogel patches! It works great to moisturise the skin in both patch and mist-form, but I personally love it's cooling effects for my undereyes the most. Do note that it can be used for other facial areas as well, though! Definitely a must-try pamper product suitable for all skin types.*
*However, do take note that this is just my opinion and to always work on a YMMV basis (Your Mileage May Vary – what works for me may not work for you).
